We are excited to be opening a brand new Acorns Charity Superstore on Pershore High Street. We're looking for two Deputy Shop Managers to support the Shop Manager in leading a team of volunteers, achieving set targets and maintaining standards. You’ll work 22.5 hours per week, over 3 days, including some weekend working.
Join the Charity Retail Association's Outstanding Charity Retailer of the Year 2023!
About the Role
Acorns have a network of charity shops across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire. Our shops generate a substantial level of income and goodwill to enable us to care for children and their families.
Our soon-to-open Pershore shop is currently being fitted out and designed and will feature pre-loved clothing, books, furniture and much more! We're looking for two Deputy Community Shop Managers to support us with the opening, helping to find volunteers, donations and be part of the new opening celebrations. Once the shop is open, your role will be to work with the Community Shop Manager, in making decisions to drive your business in the community, to encourage volunteer and donor support, and to act as an entrepreneur to maximise every sales opportunity available.
You'll make local decisions about the quality of stock, levels of pricing and style of merchandising. You’ll discuss sales reports from the EPOS system, analyse and in consultation with the Community Shop Manager, make decisions based on the data and trends these reports show. You’ll provide inspired leadership and motivation for a team of volunteers and maximise the potential of every individual within your shop by understanding their skills and experiences, and utilising them to reach their full potential.

About You
You will be excited by targets and strive to beat your agreed target for donated sales and gift aid. You’ll be IT literate as you’ll need to understand the data from our sales reporting system and discuss sales reports. You’ll have the ability to lead and motivate a team of people. Previous experience of working with volunteers would be advantageous.
We want our Shop Managers to firmly embed their shop into the fabric of the local community by being proactive in assessing opportunities within the community for the shop to get involved in, so ideally you’ll be based in the local area.
You’ll be happy to work weekends and enjoy a role that involves significant levels of manual handing. You should have the ability to travel independently throughout the organisation to cover shops and attend area meetings.
What We Offer
You need to be eligible to work in the UK to be considered for this role. We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and therefore any successful candidate will be asked to provide two satisfactory references.
As a UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting organisation we are committed to ensuring that the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child is embedded into both culture and practice within the organisation. As an employee you will be a Duty Bearer for Children’s Rights and support all children to be Rights Holders.
